Summer Camps 2024

As always, The Barn's Summer Camps will be filled with unique and enriching weekly themed programs.

Please be sure to check the Age requirements for each camp, as they may vary due to the activities planned.

All campers are required to have a current (Last exam less than 3yrs ago) Health Form

 in order to participate in ANY of the camps.

Camp weeks are Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.

Theater Camp

June 24 - June 28

Learn all there is to know about theater at this week long camp, while having fun, building confidence, and making friends. Starting with the audition process, instructors will guide campers through all of the many aspects of putting on a play, including a final performance for friends and family on the last day. No previous acting experience necessary. 

Open to students entering 3rd grade and up.

Mad-Funny Comedy Camp

July 8 - July 12

Spend the week laughing and learning while building confidence and having fun. Based on the Stand-up and Learn program, students will be given the challenge of taking things in their life, such as a story or something they found funny, and will create a short "set" for presentation on the last day. Using activities and games, instructor Riki Klaskin, who has been trained by professional comedian Kevin Flynn, will be giving the campers the skills and assurance needed to showcase their talents.

Musical Theater Camp

July 15 - July 19

This camp is perfect for those who have a love of musical theater and performing on stage.  Campers will spend the week singing, dancing, and acting up a storm with a final performance to showcase what they learned for friends and family. No previous experience necessary.

Art Camp

July 22 - July 26

One of our most popular themes, this camp explores the many aspects of art while giving the campers a chance to use the techniques they learn to create their very own masterpieces each day. Projects may vary depending on the interests of the campers, but should have drawing, painting, sculpting and more. All levels of ability are welcome.

Open to students entering 3rd grade and up.

Animation Camp

July 29 - August 2

 This camp will provide the fundamentals of animation while encouraging creativity and boosting confidence in campers. Instructor Emma Kobelia will be guiding students through the several processes of different kinds of animation, Tablets available to borrow. Contact us with questions.

Filmmaking Camp

August 5 - 9

 Campers will get to experience the fundamentals of filmmaking using state of the art equipment from our neighbors Madison Cable Access Group. Starting with creating a concept, students will then write a script, cast the actors, set up and use equipment, film their short film, edit it, and finally present the finished product at a special viewing on the last day. All levels of experience are welcome.

Murder Mystery Camp

August 12 - August 16

Solve a crime just like on TV! Someone has been Murdered.....and the suspect could be YOU!! This camp is perfect for those who like "who dunnits" and those who enjoy acting as a character. Campers will become the characters of a town that has had an unspeakable crime. There will be a performance on the last day of camp where friends and family are welcome to come help solve the mystery. WARNING: Content contains subject matter related to murder and death.

Open to students entering 3rd grade and up.

Mess-a-palooza Camp

August 19 - August 23

This one of a kind camp is perfect for the student who LOVES to make a mess! Be it slime, gloop, mud, or paint, often kids just want to get dirty and this is the perfect opportunity! Activities will vary, but may include weird science experiments with gloop, creating messy masterpieces, and usually we spend at least one day in swimwear playing with water in all different ways. Play clothes are strongly encouraged this week, as well as a towel and a change of clothes.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration prior to thirty days from the start of the program you will receive a refund minus a $30 administration fee. If you cancel your registration within thirty days of the start of the program, you will receive a credit for any event at The Barn minus a $50 administrative fee. If two weeks prior to the start date of a particular camp the minimum registration has not been met, the camp will be canceled and a full refund issued.


Covid & Illness policy:

We ask that if your child is sick that you do not bring them to camp. If anyone has had a temperature higher than 100.3 or has thrown up within the last 24 hours, they are not allowed at camp. If someone becomes symptomatic or develops a fever during the day, he/she will be separated from the rest of the campers until a parent or guardian picks them up. If a camper misses more than one day of camp due to illness a credit for 50% of the time missed may be given. That credit can be used at a future Barn event. 

Payment Policy


Payment can be made at the time of registration by credit card online or in person at The Barn.  If you choose to register online and want to pay by check please check the box to choose the pay later option and bring in payment (8 Campus Drive, Madison) or mail a check to The Barn, P.O. Box 54, Madison, CT 06443, within seven (7) days of registration.  If payment is not received within ten days of registration your child’s spot will not be guaranteed.  Full payment must be made prior to the first day of camp regardless of registration date.
