ABOUT Friends Of Madison Youth
d/b/a The Barn:
“Striving to create a safe, substance-free environment that nurtures artistic expression,
creativity and self confidence.”
The Friends of Madison Youth, d/b/a The Barn, is a non-profit organization that runs out of the youth center at the Madison Arts Barn. FOMY aims to act as a creative outlet and venue of expression for local teens and young adults. The youth of the Connecticut shoreline can attend and participate in concerts, creative workshops, theatrical performances, skate jams and more, all in a safe and supportive environment. It is our goal to bring the community together through music, arts and culture and to empower young people by supporting them in their exploration of their interests and their passions.
Some of Our Programs
The Madison Arts Barn is host to many performances including Plays and Murder Mysteries. Students take part in ALL aspects of the theater process starting with auditions to writing scripts, designing sets, and assisting with lighting and sound.
Middle School and High school dances give students a safe
environment to enjoy music, dancing, and their friends.
Camps such as Girlfriends Getaway, Skateboarding, Murder Mystery, and Mad Barn TV are just a couple of the exciting options to chose from. Featuring counselors with experience in the area of each camp theme, students have a week packed full of fun, learning, friendships and memories.
Teen Open Mic Nights
Students from the shoreline area come to the Arts Barn once a month to showcase
their talents and share their love of music.
In addition to our teen programming, The Barn hosts several community events every year. These include the Daddy Daughter Dance, the Haunted House, and Winter Wipeout. These events are open to kids of all ages.
