This is the last weekend to work on your submission for the Super Bowl Commercial Competition. Any Student between 5th and 12th grades can submit an original commercial for the competition. Submissions must be appropriate for viewing by all ages and must be one minute or less in duration. There will be a viewing and voting party on February 4th and three winners will be chosen. One winner out of the 5th and 6th grade submissions, one winner from the 7th and 8th grade submissions and one winner from the high school submissions. Winners will receive $100 and their commercials will be aired on Madison Local Access Cable Channel. Any questions let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be creative and have fun!!
Come help your school win the Madison Challenge’s 2012 Healthy School Challenge. Starting on January 30th and running through April 8th participating students can rack up points for engaging in healthy activities. Students register for free at www.madisonchallenge.com (enter MADE in payment code) or in person at the kickoff party at The Madison Arts Barn on January 23rd starting at 5:30 PM. Many local restaurant owners have donated their time and talents to prepare a healthy soup tasting event and they will be sharing their recipes. Parents of school age children are encouraged to participate in the Madison Challenge on their own team to help support their child in this program. Winter Wipeout is almost here and tickets have just gone on sale. On Saturday, January 28th the Madison Arts Barn will be filled with inflatables, games and so much fun!!! There will be a bungee run, the Terminator obstacle course, a cash cube (with a cash jackpot each session), midway games, prizes, photo booth and too much more to list. Admission is $15 and includes unlimited use of the inflatables, 20 game tickets and one chance in the cash cube for the jackpot. Concessions, additional tickets and additional chances for the cash cube will be available for purchase. There are 4 two-hour sessions broken down by age. The first session is from 1PM to 3 PM and is open to all ages. Kids under 10 must have a paying adult accompany them inside. The second session is from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM and is open only to 5th and 6th grade students. The third session is from 6 PM to 8 PM and is only open to 5th and 6th grade students. The last session is from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM and is only open to students in 7th through 12th grade.

We are also looking for volunteers to work the event. We have two volunteer sessions. The first session is 12:30 PM to 5:45 PM and the second session is 5:30 PM to 10:45 PM. We need adults for both sessions but can use 7th grade students and up for the first session. PLEASE let me know if you are available and which session you prefer!!! We need many volunteers in order to ensure a safe, successful event, so please consider volunteering.
This friday night, January 13th from 7 PM to 10 PM the Madison Arts Barn is having a dance for 8th grade students. Admission is $10 per student.
Great News – the deadline for submission for the first annual Madison Arts Barn Super Bowl Commercial Competition has been extended to January 24, 2012. Once you are finished creating your commercial download it onto a DVD and drop it off at the Arts Barn on one of the following dates:

Wednesday – Jan. 11th – 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Monday – Jan. 16th – 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Tuesday – Jan. 17th – 3:15 PM to 5:15 PM
Monday – Jan. 23rd – 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Tuesday – Jan. 24th – 3:15 PM to 5:15 PM

We already have heard from several of you and are looking forward to a great competition. There will be three $100 cash prizes given out. One prize will be given for the best submission from 5th & 6th grade students, a second prize for the 7th & 8th grade students and a final prize for the best submission from a 9th thru 12th grade student.
The viewing and voting will take place on Saturday, February 4th at 4 PM. Admission will be $5 and each person will receive one voting ticket for each age category.
