The Barn is bursting with activities now. Tickets for all events can be purchased online or at the door.

We just finished packing up all the ghosts and zombies from our second annual Haunted House which was a huge success despite half of the town being evaculated and Super Storm Sandy hitting us. Watch out for a video from the event which should be out soon.

Dances - All Dances are 7-10PM and admission is $10. Cafe is open for concessions and Boppers provided the entertainment. 8th Grade Dance – Nov. 16th 6th Grade Dance – Dec. 7th 7th Grade Dance Dec. 14th.

Holiday Drop & Shop – On November 23rd – Black Friday – From 12 – 4 PM and December 22nd from 2-6 PM- Children 5 and up can be dropped off at the Madison Arts Barn and parents can shop or prepare for the holidays. Children will have games, crafts, movies and more to keep them entertained. The cost is $5 per hour and siblings are half price. This event was organized by Erika Klaskin as a charity project for her Bat Mitzvah and all the proceeds will be donated to Dances with Wood and Circle of Care. Both organizations supports children with cancer and their families.

Winter Wipeout – December 1st we will have our second annual Winter Wipeout!! The event features a bungee run, inflatable obstacle course, cash cube with a $50 cash prize per session, Fear Factor games, Minute to Win it games and more. Admission is $15 per session and includes inflatables, one cash cube chance and 10 game tickets. Additional chances in the cash cube and game tickets available. First Session is 3 – 5 PM and is open to all ages. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult and both require a ticket for admission. Second Session is 5:30 – 7:30 PM and is open to 5th & 6th grade students. Third Sessions is 8 – 10 PM and is open to students in 7th grade and up.

Benefit Concert Featuring Body Lingo with special guest Knee Deep – Come join us for an exciting concert featuring Body Lingo performing their hit single Yum Yum, available on iTunes. Madison’s own Knee Deep will be the opening act. Come support our local teens and Friends of Madison Youth. Admission is $10 – 7th grade and up welcome.

Dances at the Madison Arts Barn this Fall

The fall is here and that means the dances are back at the Madison Arts Barn. This Friday, October 5th will be our first 6th grade dance of the school year. The following week, Friday October 12th will be a 7th grade dance and Friday, November 16th will be an 8th grade dance. All the dances are high energy and lots of fun. Boppers DJ’s provide professional entertainment and for those that like the party but don’t like to dance there is basketball, ping-pong and foosball tables. Our cafe will be open for drinks, snacks and glow in the dark and LED novelties. All the dances are from 7-10 PM and Admission is $10. Get ready for the Second Annual Haunted House

This Sunday, September 23rd from 4:30-6 PM at the Barn we will have an informational meeting for those interested in participating in our second annual Haunted House. Last year was amazing with over 50 students and adults lending a hand in one way or another to make the event spectacular. Starting Monday September 24th from 6:30 – 8:30 PM during our Creative Creations session and going every Monday until the event we will be working on publicity, designing sets and costumes for the Haunted House. Students in 5th grade through 12th are welcome as well as parents. Hope to see you there!

Revenge on the High Seas – A Pirate Murder Mystery

Don’t miss out on your chance to see the latest Murder Mystery at the Madison Arts Barn. This Sunday, September 9th at 6:30 PM come join us for dessert and a murder. Revenge on the High Seas is a Pirate Murder Mystery written and directed by Daniel Hand student, Blake Brucher. Come meet and interrogate dozens of pirates to help solve who killed Captain Grisly Meed. Tickets are $15 per person and there is very limited seating. THIS SATURDAY – 7/21 – 6:30 – 10 PM – Open Mic Night - $5 Admission.  This is open to anyone entering 9th grade and up.

THIS SUNDAY – 7/22 – 4 – 6 PM – Auditions and informational meeting for our next Murder Mystery - This is open to anyone entering 5th grade and up.  This Mystery involves the Murder of the Captain of a Pirate Ship and the performance will be September 9th.

NEXT WEEK – 7/23 – 7/27 8:30-3:30 PM – Center Stage Theatre Camp - $225 for the week. This is open to anyone entering 5th grade and up. Director Alan Wagner will work on audition skills, monologue selection and development and song selection in additional to theatre games and improv.

Also next week we are in week 2 of 6 for our Cartooning/Anime (Wednesdays 4-6PM) and Graffiti (Thursdays 4-6PM) Workshops - If interested in joining we will prorate the fee. Email us if you are interested at madisonartsbarn@gmail.com.

Concert and Open Mic at The Madison Arts Barn Friday Night

This week the Arts Barn ran a Rock Band Live camp that has created Madison’s newest band “Artful Rush”.  Come see them perform this Friday, July 13th at 7 PM.  We will also have an Open Mic night for anyone who wants to get some stage time.  This is a special open mic night open to everyone and there is no admission. Come down and enjoy the show!!

Summer Programs at The Madison Arts Barn

There is so much going on at the Madison Arts Barn this summer there is something for EVERYONE!!! We are having day camps for students entering 5th grade and up, workshops, lessons, tutoring and social events.  We have already listed several day camp options and more will be listed very soon. You can see the summer camp listing with their descriptions and registration information by clicking the summer 2012 tab above.  You do not want to miss The Famished Games based on the popular Hunger Games series.  Come explore all the districts of Panem.  Teenagers come learn survival skills with Erik Becker! 4.  Creative Creations – Monday evenings beginning April 2nd at the Arts Barn.  Come help us create our next big event.  Help with decoration and sets.  Creative skill is appreciated but not necessary.  Currently working on building the town of Cactus Gulch for the Murder Mystery Dinner.

5.  Skate Camp for beginners – Week of April 2nd (changed to April 9th) come learn the basics of skateboarding.

6.  Magic Card Tournament – April 2nd – Open to High School Students.

7.  Poetry Slam/Coffee House – Co-Sponsored with the Scranton Library – April 7th (postponed date TBA.)

8. 6th Grade Dance – April 13th – 7-10 PM

9.  Skate Workshops for Intermediate Skaters – Tuesday and Thursdays beginning April 24th for two weeks.

10.  Murder Mystery Dinner – April 28th from 6:00 – 8:30 PM.  Come visit Cactus Gulch and help us find who killed Dusty Jones, the owner of the goldmine.  Community event open to everyone!

12.  Kid’s Energy Expo – Come join us to experience a day exploring.  Exhibits include; make your own smoothie, make your own trial mix, yoga, karate, dream interpretation, chair massage, personal training, Didgeridoo, Skateboarding, Shaman power animals, reflexology, angel card reading and more.

Winter Wipeout is almost here….Don’t get left out in the cold

Winter Wipeout is almost here and tickets have just gone on sale. On Saturday, January 28th the Madison Arts Barn will be filled with inflatables, games and so much fun!!! There will be a bungee run, the Terminator obstacle course, a cash cube (with a cash jackpot each session), midway games, prizes, photo booth and too much more to list. Admission is $15 and includes unlimited use of the inflatables, 20 game tickets and one chance in the cash cube for the jackpot. Concessions, additional tickets and additional chances for the cash cube will be available for purchase. There are 4 two-hour sessions broken down by age. The first session is from 1PM to 3 PM and is open to all ages. Kids under 10 must have a paying adult accompany them inside. The second session is from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM and is open only to 5th and 6th grade students. The third session is from 6 PM to 8 PM and is only open to 5th and 6th grade students. The last session is from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM and is only open to students in 7th through 12th grade.

We are also looking for volunteers to work the event. We have two volunteer sessions. The first session is 12:30 PM to 5:45 PM and the second session is 5:30 PM to 10:45 PM. We need adults for both sessions but can use 7th grade students and up for the first session. PLEASE let me know if you are available and which session you prefer!!! We need many volunteers in order to ensure a safe, successful event, so please consider volunteering.
